Jeremy M. Stipkala, Ph.D., J.D., Patent Attorney and Certified Mediator with Thrive IP®, and Matthias Schuhmacher, M.Sc., LL.M., US Attorney at Law and European Patent Attorney with Tautz & Schuhmacher, LLC, were invited to speak at regional meetings of the German organization of patent attorneys VPP on the topic of mediating intellectual property disputes in the United States. The company Miele hosted the first meeting in Bielefeld, Germany, on June 4, 2025. The second meeting was held at the German Patent and Trade Mark Office in Jena, Germany, on June 5th, and included an informative tour of the trademark archives given by Director Markus Ortlieb. The speakers discussed U.S. intellectual property litigation, what mediation looks like, and the advantages and disadvantages of mediation.
