Ashleigh Burgess

Ashleigh Burgess is a Registered Patent Agent at Thrive IP®.  Her practice focuses on intellectual property prosecution and enforcement. She recently graduated with her Juris Doctorate from the University of South Carolina and has passed the United States Patent and Trademark Office Patent Bar examination.  She is scheduled to take the South Carolina Bar Examination in the summer of 2026.

Ashleigh’s practice centers on preparing and prosecuting patent and trademark applications, as well as supporting clients in protecting and enforcing their intellectual property rights. She has experience assisting with matters before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, including trademark opposition, expungement, and cancellation proceedings. Throughout her time in law School, she has worked with members of the Thrive IP® team to successfully apply for and secure numerous patents and trademark registrations for clients. She also has experience in various facets of intellectual property litigation, including proceedings before both the PTAB and TTAB, contract drafting and review, entity formation and governance, and regulatory guidance.

Previously,  Ashleigh graduated magma cum laude from the University of Southern Mississippi with a B.S. in Biological Sciences and a minor in General Chemistry. Her background in biological sciences and chemistry allows her to work effectively with technical subject matter and communicate complex innovations clearly in patent applications.

Ashleigh is a member of the Carolina Patent, Trademark, & Copyright Law Association and was actively involved in the Intellectual Property Club during law school. She is committed to helping clients secure, protect, and maximize the value of their intellectual property assets.
